Speed Ordinance
Speeds are regulated throughout the city and are subject to Title 7 State Statutes. Commercial Transport vehicles have separate speed limits from regular vehicles. Commercial Transport vehicles are defined as Semi Tractor Trailers, Box Trucks, and vehicles carrying large loads that put the gross weight of the vehicle over 20,000 pounds on a single axle.

Non-Highway Speed Limit
The speed limit of 50 Miles per Hour shall be applied to any streets, roads, avenues, boulevards, routes, and any other roadway without a highway or freeway designation. Separate Commercial speed limits are enforced on Commercial Transportation.
Highway/Freeway Speed Limit
The speed limit of 70 Miles per Hour shall be applied to all highways and freeways throughout the state. Separate Commercial speed limits are enforced on Semi Tractor Trailers.
Commercial Transport Non-Highway Speed Limit
The speed limit of 35 Miles per Hour shall be applied to all commercial vehicles on any streets, roads, avenues, boulevards, routes, and any other roadway without a highway or freeway designation.
Commercial Transport Highway/Freeway Speed Limits
The speed limit of 55 Miles per Hour shall be applied to all commercial vehicles on highways and freeways throughout the state.
Curb Appeal
Red Curbs
A red curb means no stopping/standing/parking at any time. Violators may be towed immediately and/or ticketed. The curb does not need to denote a "No Parking" sign or marking to be valid.
Yellow Curbs
A yellow curb is a commercial loading zone, which means that between 6am and 6pm, trucks and commercial vehicles are allowed 20 minutes to load or unload goods, and passenger vehicles can load or unload passengers for 3 minutes.
Unpainted Curbs
Unpainted curbs are subject to parking rules on signs or meters nearby, please observe the area surrounding the curb before choosing to park there.
Traffic Control Devices
Red Lights
Red lights are observed as 5 second stop signs, you must wait 5 seconds before proceeding to avoid a ticket from SASP.
Stop Signs
You must come to a full stop at these signs and yield to any oncoming traffic before proceeding.
Traffic Cones
Use caution when driving around these, as they indicate hazards to regular traffic operations.
Yield Signs
You must yield to any oncoming traffic before proceeding. Intersecting traffic or any pedestrian has right of way.
Emergency Lights
Slow down and move to the right when lights and sirens are coming up behind you, move to the left and slow down if the lights are ahead of you.
Amber Lights
Use caution when driving around these, as they indicate hazards to regular traffic operations.
